Industry requirement
In order to become an owner-builder in TAS, you must complete an approved owner-builder course. The ABE TAS Owner-Builder Course is approved by Workplace Standards Tasmania and will provide you with the educational requirements mandated to apply for your owner-builder permit.
A construction induction White Card (CPCCWHS1001 - Prepare to work safely in the construction industry) is a mandatory requirement by TAS Department of Justice when applying for an owner builder permit. If you need a White Card as well, you will be given the option to register upon completion of the owner builder course registration.

IMPORTANT NOTICE
First Home Owner Grant (FHOG)
The First Home Owner Grant is a one-off payment for eligible first home buyers/builders in Tasmania.
From and including 1 January 2016, the FHOG payment is set at $20,000 for eligible purchasers of new homes (for example a spec home), homes off the plan and owner/builder homes.
The payment will revert to $10,000 for transactions entered into after 1 July 2017.
Legislation will be introduced to underpin the new measure. Before that legislation comes into effect, the higher level of grant will be implemented by administrative arrangements (a Grant Deed).
